SCPCA Horse Show Raises Money for
Camp Kemo,
Camp Courage and Camp Happy Days
Saturday, October 15, 2011
10:00 a.m.
Red Bank Arena in Red Banks, SC

In 1993, the Midland Pest Control Association held an equestrian festival to raise funds for the kids of Camp Kemo, a week-long summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings. The South Carolina Pest Control Association soon joined the cause in 1997.
Today, the SCPCA Horse Show raises money for three camps: Camp Kemo, Camp Courage and Camp Happy Days. With the 2010 show, the SCPCA in conjunction with eight local pest control associations have raised more than $562,000 so far to help the camps and campers.

The Adkins-Ford Scholarship and
The Cochran Award
SCPCA sets a high priority on educating future generations. Through the Adkins-Ford scholarship project, SCPCA makes 5-6 grants each year to the children of pest management professionals. In order to be eligible for participation, the pest control firm must be a member of the SCPCA. Since the creation of these scholarship funds, the SCPCA has contributed more than $150,000 to promote further education of our members and their families.
Scholarships awarded will be a minimum of $500 and will be for one year on a need basis. Applicants must write a two or three paragraph essay about why the committee should award them the scholarship and submit a photo. All applicants must also attend a school above and beyond the high school level.
The Cochran Award is a post-graduate grant awarded annually to a deserving individual in the College of Life sciences at Clemson University.
To nominate a student for the Adkins-Ford scholarship, download the application form. Submissions are due by March 15, 2011 and the winners will be announced April 15, 2011.
